I used Nicorette to stop. Have you tried it? It does lead to constant gum chewing, but my dentist tells me that it helped my gums...

I quit cold turkey, 31 yrs ago. No products or support -- just quit, from 1.5 packs a day.

It was so hellish I would never go through it twice!!!

(meaning I would NEVER start again, to go through it twice)

Unhappy worst addiction ever

Smoking is the hardest behavior change to make. That I accomplished it - cold turkey - 8 years ago amazes even me. 3 pkgs + per day, 45 years of bad behavior - all gone, me done!!!!! Never will EVER try another - I am one puff away from a carton.

I quit using Champix (UK) name, just over 2 years ago. It made it really easy for me as I just stopped wanting them. You need to come off it though if you get any side effects, it has been linked with serious depression. I didn't experience any problems with it.

I was diagnosed shortly after quitting so I don't know. That said, nicotine raises blood sugar levels itself so if you quit maybe after a few weeks it would balance out. In the end if you get off the smokes you are doing your health many favours so I think it should all balance out. If it's what it takes to give up go for it. If it doesn't work out you can always stop taking it.

I quit smoking a year and four months ago using e-cigarettes. I went through 3 different e-cigarette batteries until I found one that would last all day. Upon diagnosis 7 months ago I found out that diabetics should use PG e-liquids. It does not affect my blood sugar at all. My e-liquids have nicotine and all of my lab results show that I am a non-smoker. I still feel like a smoker but am no longer tempted by cigarettes. I have gone cold turkey twice before this and they lasted 9 months the first time and just over 2 years the second time. This was, by far, the Easiest transition Ever. Like I said, I still feel like a smoker... Without any if the symptoms of smoking. Taste buds are back, lungs are great, energy went up, and no more ash trays or smelling like one. Plus, it's very inexpensive compared to cigarettes. My KGO kit comes with 2 complete sets of e-cigarettes which lasts up to a year for less than $50. They also last all day long. I just put them in my purse or pocket and go. The e-liquid depends on the nicotine content . Too low and you have to buy or make more. It's really cheap and lasts a long time... unless you get into flavors. They have flavors like Waffles, Cheesecake, bazooka gum, beer, piņa colada, coffee... You get the picture. And, although I rarely use flavors, except the occasional kiwi strawberry that I like, they do not convert into glucose, so no rise in blood sugars using PG e-liquid (not VG). I stick to my Dunhill e-liquid pretty much exclusively now.

Ok... Probably too much information. Ha!
