My last morning BS results have been high. This bothers me since I believe I've been exceptionally good on my diet. The only real change is I found a Mexican store that has "real" fried pork skins. I've been snacking on these right before bed. Has anyone experienced this?

I am in my first week. Are almonds a good choice?

Most certainly much better than potato chips. They aren't "free" foods because they do have carbs in them, so one can't pig-out on them. BTW, macadamia nuts have the least carbs per serving. Walnuts and pecans more than macadamia, but less than almonds. (Cashews are high in carbs.)

Bacon, on the other hand, especially if it's fatty bacon, is pretty close to a free food (diabetes-wise).

I got an oscar juicer for my birthday, its amazing! cold pressed juice, I have celery, apple, carrot and kale. Juice this up everyday and really helps with my energy I highly recommend it.

be careful with juicing... that could be 50g of carbs just on the 1 juice.

if people are looking to reduce carbs, juicing might not be the best idea.

I don't really enjoy the flavor much of the ones I have tried. But you make a good point, I need to go to the Mexican supermarket to try to find some better ones. They do fill the chip niche without the carbs though!

The only thing is that if you are eating before bed... you're more likely to have a higher BG in the morning because you haven't fasted as long and you ate & digested but haven't had any exercise in the last hours.
