I like nuts, pistachios and pecans especially. I like to wrap a piece of meat, like roast beef, turkey or ham around some cheese. I just bought some peppery cheese curds, and like nibbling on those.

Dr. Bernstein said last night he likes 20 pistachios. He has marked a cup for that amount and just fills the cup to that mark.

To keep my blood sugar in normal ranges I eat no root veggies, beans, grains, fruit, or most dairy. I do however eat lots of good green leafy veggies, full fat cream cheese, butter, full fat cheeses, avocados, lots of good cuts of well marbled meat, nuts(no peanuts) and seeds

I've been starting my morning (I get up REALLY early -- a coupla hours before breakfast) with black coffee, a piece of really good cheese (this weekend I found some to-die-for goat milk gouda) and a Bubbie's pickle.

...oh, and generally I eat the same way Marshagolightly does. I also eat fish, and probably more chicken than is good for me. And Bubbie's pickles.

I have not heard of Bubbie's pickles but this made me laugh. My sister calls me Bubby and I call her Sissy. I don't think I have any stock in Bubbie's pickles though.

Don't remember how I stumbled on Bubbies (they make saurkraut too, which I have in my fridge waiting for a taste test) but they are made without vinegar -- they're pickled in brine the old fashioned way. Well, the way Bubbie would have done it. They're supposed to be chock full of probiotics. I was very surprised to find them at my local (crappy) SaveMart. As soon as the pickle jar is empty I'm going to use the brine to pickle some hard boiled eggs. And at some point I'd like to try to brine my own pickles.

I have always loved pickles, dill garlic, spicy whatever, they are always in the fridge. I have always favored salty over sweet snacks. Olives are also a quick snack., or a few macadamia nuts. I have found since I have gotten into deep ketosis I don't often even feel the need for any snack.

Since we're all getting pickled here I thought I'd chime in with my experience... I love pickles and purchased 3 jars of what, on the jar, were pickles with only 4 carbs/100g. A bit high but would allow me one pickle on occasion. I got home with the groceries and decided to test the pickle juice with my meter...... wow! it registered HI! I then checked with my other meter.... 39.8!! Sugar is not listed as one of the ingredients though. Oh well... will never find Bubbies here so no pickles for me.
