Question: I love salad, but don't usually eat them b/c I've been "shamed" out of eating any kind of dressing that tastes good. And, to me, it's pointless to eat a salad if the dressing tastes like cr*p.

I'm not a fan of the Italian dressings. What do you all eat for a salad dressing on the LC/HF diet?

argh...I just looked up what I thought was carb-free sweetener I used to cook with and found it had 56gms of carb per 100gm...it exxplains a lot of why I thought cream cheese was making me spike...it was the added sweetener...THANK YOU SHANNY

um I use whole egg mayonnaise and change the flavour by adding vinegar...

or a bit of chilli and organic tomato sauce...for a seafood sauce

or even some mustard...

I also mix mayo with sour cream...yumm

Me either, MsT . . . not a fan of boughten dressings at all. I do the same as Deena - have always preferred creamy dressings anyhow, so I just make my own. Mayonnaise, sour cream, bleu cheese, worcestershire sauce, various vinegars, mustard - whatever combination strikes my fancy on any given day. If it's too thick, just thin it with a little cream or even water.

Mayonnaise with a little chili sauce stirred in is good. If thousand island is your preference, use the chili sauce/mayonnaise mixture & add some minced onion & s/f relish. Lots of 1000 island recipes call for catsup, but I like a little more zip that the chili sauce gives. For less "zip", use s/f catsup instead.

I like mayonnaise & mustard too, like I'd make for potato salad. It's good on other salads too . . . I use celery salt when I make it, and add some celery seed too.

Quick Bleu Cheese dip/dressing

Yummy - I look forward to experimenting with these dressing ingredients.
Shanny - I also love a creamy dressing. I used to eat this Honey Mustard dressing from O-Charley's that was at the grocery store produce section. Awesome stuff!
