AS much as you dread it, you DO need to tell your doc!

I do not know if you need to taper or not. I just a read article that recommended tapering statins, for cryin' out loud!

good luck -- hope you can get by without it.

I think if you decide not to take it you may need to replace it with another med like Metformin. My dad has been on it for almost 3 years and I really don't think it works that well and I am concerned about the side effects.

See if it were me, I would want off the glip -- it's a sulfonylurea!

My sentiments too - the glipizide is killing your βcells by hammering them to produce ever increasing amounts of insulin. Whazzup with that doc? Metformin, glipizide & januvia all three?! Holy cow!

From what I understand Junuvia is a new class of drugs that have a dual purpose and work mostly in the pancreas. One is to reduce glucagon from your alpha cells, thus reducing your livers signal to release glucose. The other aspect is to increase insulin production from your Beta cells. To be on all three seems a bit odd and more like some one is pushing a drug. Junuvia is quite expensive. S-N-L was on Junuvia and recently quit when he was running into lows during the night.
