My father-in-law has been diabetic for many years. He also has blockages in his heart. His doctor has recommended quad bypass surgery. The doctor says he is a good candidate for the sugery, having a strong heart and kidneys. My mother-in-law wants to know if 100 units of lantas a day is unusually high. Also, is anyone familiar with a treatment for clogging blood arteries and viens called EDTA Chelation?

Hello There! It's Nice to meet you.I'm sorry to hear of your Father-in-laws condition. Yes, it is Very encouraging that his heart and kidneys are strong though. Here is a Good article that explains the EDTA Chelation Therapy: Questions and Answers About Chelation Therapy That is not an unusual amount of Lantus Insulin. That amount is usually indicated for an Adult who may be over-weight and has a degree of Insulin Resistance and probably is a Type 2. Everyone takes the amount that their system requires to help keep their blood sugar down, along with exercise and healthy meals. Some take it twice a day. I hope that it is working for him. I hope this helps. And we wish your Father-in-law a successful procedure. Feel free to post again. |
