Default Swelling around eye

Dear friends,

I am diabetic and latest A1C-6.4 with metformin 500 mg 1/2 two times.

(1) My doctor advised me to use glucopage 500mg to XR 500mg 1 per day. is XR work better then normal glucopage 500mg?
(2) Every morning, my upper eyebrow (droopy eyelid, looks like ptosis) was almost halfway shut, it hurt quite a bit swelling under the eye. Tried with eye doctor and ENT , my ENT doctor finally asking me to go for CT Scan or MRI.
(3) General doctor advised ( by suspecting this could be due to dust allergy) me to use cetrizene 10mg daily 1 at bed time , Its been 1 week since I start the medication, have not seen any progress.
(4) Along with all the above, I have noticed shortness of breath and pain in the center of the chest, radiating pain in sholders when eat more corb food(after 1 or 2 hours of food and pain in the upper Upper abdominal area)

Please help how to get rid of the swelling under eye? This could be one of the side effects of metformin or diabetes?

Never heard of a connection with eyelid swelling and pain in chest when eating high carb foods. Diabetes does cause dry eye syndrom and I got a bad case of it. Get some lubricating eye drops. Did eye doc pull up your eye lid and look under it. I had a zit form on the under side of eye lid and had similar side effects as you describe, no chest involvement though. The infection requied topical AB, as well as internal AB. The infection got worrisome to the doc when it didn't go away with the first round of AB.

GO SEE A CARDIOLOGIST ABOUT THE CHEST PAIN AS SOON AS YOU CAN, DROP THE DENIAL AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.

I can't stress this enough - MCS has been through the drill himself, and I just went through it with my husband. You need to be seen for the chest pain, and make it quick.

The glucophage 850mg does that with the stomach. Mine settled after about 2 days. My late husband was fine all day, then suddenly had chest pains that evening, went into hospital and was gone the next morning. I suggest you get help for that and quick. The forum has a recipe section and do check out Bloodsugar 101 by Jenny Ruhl where you will get a ton of info.

You will get a lot of excellent advice here from some of the more knowledgeable members, as indicated above. Stay connected

Shortness of breath, chest pain after food can also be gallbladder issues... Gallbladder can mimic heart troubles. However, only a doctor will be in a position to give you clarity.

Prince,

how has the eye swelling been going on? Would you classify it as rather short (a week or so) or long (longer than a month) term?

If it hasn't been going on for terribly long, it could easily be stye (or barleycorn, different names, same meaning). From what I read (and also from personal experience), diabetics tend to be more sensitive to skin inflammations and such. If it is a stye, it should pass fairly quick - had it myself several times and provides you with nothing but discomfort, that's all.

If, on the other hand, it is not a stye, I wouldn't hesitate consulting a doctor (not necessarily your endo) as they may be more knowledgeable of this fact.

Anyways, best of luck solving the issue and be sure to let us know how it goes.
