Default Invokana

Has anyone tried this new drug? What are your thoughts about the side affects? I have coronary heart disease and am afraid of it. I did take it for 2 weeks and did lose weight but had excessive urination, some drop in blood pressure. My cardiologist said that we would have to monitor my blood pressure closely. I am now on Metformin ER and the side affects of it are worse than the Invokana. I do take Januvia and 15 mg. of Actos. Because of my heart disease I cannot take more than 15 mg. of Actos. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you

Hello and welcome, Laurie. This thread has a good discussion of it . . . Johnson & Johnson's SGLT2 canagliflozin (Invokana) has just received FDA approval

This is my 5th day on Invokana and surprisingly after almost a year of #'s creeping up i'm doing good just checked my #'s and WOW 104 about 2 hours after breakfast. I had problems keeping it below 180. I do have to urinate just about every 1 1/2 hours the first part of the day but the need calms down after lunch as I understand the half life of this drug is about 10 and a half hours...it works great for me ...so far...
