Default Inherited Diabetes - Type 1 or Type 2?

Which type of diabetes is inherited?
i read somewhere that type 1 is not inherited and is basically caused due to immune system attacking pancreatic cells whereas type 2 results from a combination of various inherited defects.
True?

False.

Both types of diabetes have a genetic factor. It is a misconseption that someone can cause T2 diabetes by poor diet or being overweight, etc.

Okay.. and T1, is it inherited?

I am planning for a kid now... so curious..

Obviously, there's no guarantee one way or the other and no way to predict.

My sister developed T1 at 9 yrs. My parents and their siblings did not have D. But there was no way to know about previous generations on either side since being rural and uneducation, they wouldn't have known about diabetes. I'm the only one that I know of that has diabetes, and I developed T2 way late in life - 63 yrs.
