- My name is Heather, I am insulin dependent and have been for 12 years now. I am currently looking into getting the pump. I love learning as much as I can about my illness b/c there's something new everyday. I was 15 when I was diagnosed after waking up out of a 2 week coma. At first I didn't care, I was 15 and was going to do what I wanted to do, but as the years past and my health was at it's worst I told myself I am only hurting myself. So for the past 7-8 years I've decided not to let diabetes control me b/c I was going to control it.

- Your experiences with diabetes
- I have learned that diabetes can and will try it's damnedest to beat you. I have my mind set that I am going to live my life as any normal person would just w/ a non-cure-able condition. I'm not going to claim I know everything b/c I'm far from knowing all there is to know about diabetes, but I'm not new to it. I have had so many ER visits I can't even count how many. I usually went in w/ DKA. I am just willing to listen to other peoples stories and sharing mine, and learning as much as I can.
