Hello! Does anyone know if diabetes associations often host their own fora or is there just one or several main fora that addresses diabetes? Thanks!

There are numerous groups which have forums or email lists, but this is the only one I like since there are no argumentative people posting here. The others I looked into had many 'hotheads' on them who attacked others thoughts and way of eating, etc. I don't do well in a negative environment. I need positive enforcement to stay positive.

Happy hunting,

smorgan, etherea, skb and 3 others like this.

I was on another forum first but got weary of all the drama and putdowns being thrown around. The moderators of this forum do an excellent job of keeping the "hotheads" (as Pat mentioned) in line. Actually, they usually don't linger here because they aren't given a voice.

The collective knowledge of the folks on this forum is awesome. I don't think you'd find a better on-line support group than this one.

You can google "Diabetes Forums" and get a lot of listings. I personally joined around 5 of them. There was either too much drama/confrontation or too little activity on most of them. This forum is neither of the above. It is the closest thing to "family" outside of real family that I have found anywhere online! And the combined knowledge here is truly amazing!

Happy hunting,
I'm on just one other forum, but I feel more comfortable here. There, I would log in once in a very great while, and found that if I disagreed with the conventional wisdom of that forum, I would be roundly castigated. It didnt bother me personally, but it was a definite barrier to greater involvement. Whats the point, if you cannot express a viewpoint which is different?
