Has anyone been diagnosed with this? If so, what specialty doctor made your diagnosis and treatment plan?

I know this is an old post but I'm new and doing a lot of reading. Man a lot of good stuff here. Hope I can add a bit. I was diagnosed last year. It was confirmed with the Radioisotope Gastric-Emptying Scan. I told my GP the trouble I was having and she said I had Gastroparesis. She sent me for an upper GI endoscopy. The food setting in my stomach had caused an area on the linning that was causing me pain. I was then sent for the Gastric-Emptying test.

I'll add a bit more and hope it helps. I take Omeprazole to help with the acid damage. But it takes a while.

I had a section of small intestine removed back in 81. I was only 7% empting on the test. I think some of my trouble is from that earlier surgery. My whole system is like a slow mostly clogged drain. I was put on Polyethylene Glycol 3350 and Sennosides. I went to see a gastro doc but was not happy with him or my old family doc. I did blender my food for a while and that helped.

My bloating and pain is controlled now with the acid blocker, laxatives, and diet. The biggest problem now is keeping the "Starvin Marvin's" away. If I'm all backed up and bloated, and in pain, I am not hungry. It is really easy to control my numbers and loose weight. Course that first part is no fun. If I am able to keep my systems working with diet and meds then I want to eat everything in site. So I am still trying to balance it all out. Really difficult to find that fine line. I am still working at it.
