That is so very true - and good to remember this. Sometimes we forget we are not just on a "diet" but are treating/controlling diabetes.

Haralil - I do hope you can work out a low-carb/high-fat way of eating. Those BG levels of 155+ are going to do damage to your organs in some way. Be it eyesight, or toes and feet, or kidneys. Eventually something is going to happen.

Last few days I am taking Metformin 500 SR morning alone. I cut down my carbohydrate food to half. Strange today my fasting BG is 118 and after taking metaformin PP is 92. Do I need to split the tablet into two or I have to take morning 250mg and evening 250mg metformin. This afternoon I have severe eye pain.
First 2 years of my diabetics, I tried Ayurveda, homeopathy and naturopathy and it damaged my foot and my eye power. I cannot walk bare foot even for 1 minutes, my foot tissue may be damaged. I checked urea etc all good. It seems my uncontrolled Diabetic have made this problem.

It may take a while to see the effects of the metformin, even a couple of weeks or more. One dose taken or missed will probably go unnoticed as far as impacting on BG.

I'm not foxl, but if you eat dairy, then you can have cheeses which are good on a LC/HF diet. Other dairy products that are useful for this way of eating are butter, chee, (full fat) cream, (full fat) yoghurt, unsweetened and without fruit, and cream cheese.

There are many recipes in the recipe section that use dairy as part of the ingredients. If they are entree items, just substitute your protein source for the meat.

Coconut milk can also be useful.
