Default Update: Acid Reflux

I will be the winner of a GI scope and colonoscopy in the next few weeks! Woo!

So, the acid is pretty severe. I am no less than miserable. My wonderful GP and I went over everything and he is doubling me up on the Nexium until I see my Gastro on the 11th.

We went through the diet and he thinks that I need to modify my eating for 3 weeks, go rather bland (but keep with my low carb), and slowly introduce the heavier fats in over a period of a month. Very happy with my weight, fine with my diet, just that I changed it so drastically from rarely ever eating pork and red meat, that we have to adjust over the next 4 weeks:

Right now what is out is: Pork, red meats, cheese, artificial sugars (My NSA Jello gelatin should be OK), and coffee with HWC.

In 2 weeks, can try: CO in herbal tea. Intro EVOO.

What I can keep, but small meals of: salad, asparagus, broccoli, eggs, salmon/seafood, greek yogurt, Chicken, butter in moderation, herbal tea, and avocado (moderation).

What will be new: celery, a little ginger root (wants me to to test to meter), parsley.

I think it is reasonable. I very much appreciated that he respected my way of eating and we are working together to get this under control! Fingers crossed- I am in constant pain and it is very stressful!.

Good luck Mollie. I had the colonoscopy and endoscopy at the same time. You're out so you don't feel a thing. The only thing was a slight sore throat that went away in a day or so. It showed significant scaring in my esophagus and that was when my Gastrointerologist gave me the scrip for the PPI. It was a brand drug so my co-pay was higher but it worked wonders for me. I was on lchf for about 4-5 months before I started to wean myself off of it. I took it for two years before that and so far I haven't had any more problems. Hope your relief comes soon.

Thanks, WW. So far, so good and easy with the AM Nexium and a pretty simple lunch: salad with avocado, egg beaters, 2 sticks of celery and broccoli. Whoopie. I then had some Fage an hour later. Im sitting at 85, so nothing is affecting the BG.
