ok, sorry for so many questions but you are on my mind and I don't think I have the full picture and I want to understand better.

he had no awareness that he was diabetic? when was he diagnosed? was the pain immediately after he took any diabetic treatment for the first time?

if you are going to the same doctor and telling them that he is in pain and they cant find anything or wont try different things, I would highly recommend getting a second opinion. He should not be in pain strictly from taking the insulin.

what was his BG numbers before? and what are they each day now?

his level was 46 when he was first diagnosed and got took straight to hospital. He's been on insulin ever since. The amount he takes depends on what he's eating think it's usually around 12- 15 units though. His pain is in his knees, hips, back, bum. His ankles have swollen up too. He injects into his stomach.

has any doctor talked about changing the dose? It sounds from my untrained ears that its side effects from the insulin or insulin toxicity.

if he is in that much pain I would consider the following....

Going to an emergency room with the symptoms and tell them this started when he started taking the medication.

Stopping one of the medications for a day or so to see if the pain subsides to find out which medication is causing it (this is just my opinion and not a doctors advice so please consider everything before doing this). I am very analytical and I am thinking what I would do in this situation. I would stop the one taken before the meals first for a day or 2 to see if that helps and if not, go back to that and stop the other one. this is my opinion only on what I would do.

Your husband has had this for a while and I don't think 1 or 2 days would hurt to see if you can determine if the meds are the cause (certainly sounds like it)

Out of curiosity, what has the doctors said about this? what tests were done when you went in with the pain symptoms?

I totally agree with what you have said about could be insulin related. The doctors did a full blood test and all came back fine. Not sure what they looked for but I do know they checked his white blood count. My hubby doesn't know I'm writing on here as whenever I mention what I have read he says 'stop googling, I'm listening to doctors and diabetes specialists not just searching the web' he is quite stubborn and doesn't like social media or anything related. I will attempt talking about it again. Just wish the doctors would suggest such things that you have rather than simply giving him pain relief that doesn't seem to help much. Thanks again

I hope he is able to try some things because he shouldn't be in pain after taking the insulin.

I looked up NovoRapid and here are the side effects

NovoRapid - Uses, Side Effects, Interactions - MedBroadcast.com

Contact your doctor if you experience these side effects and they are severe or bothersome. Your pharmacist may be able to advise you on managing side effects.
redness, itching, or swelling at the site of the injection
swelling around ankles and other joints
vision changes

the pain in his back and joints could be this and they should think about a different med for him.

we are here for you and hopefully answer any questions you have. many people are like your husband and will follow the doctors because that's what they are trained to do.

Stay with us and keep us updated. You know him best so you know what he needs. Also know he's probably scared about this and frustrated with the pain and that could affect judgment on what to do.

Try to have patience and hopefully they will find the root cause and correct it.
