The toppings are the best part, anyway. The crust is merely a vehicle to get the toppings to your mouth, and a fork will work just as we'll!

I tested. Can't eat the pizza toppings without spiking. YMMV but test everything!

I am sorry your DH is either having trouble adjusting to this change or just does not get it and does not deal with change well. I encourage YOU to stick with testing and eating what works for you (and maybe ask him to read Roxanne's story).

I am so sorry your sister and family are going through this nightmare! Hugs and caring to you all.

ADA says diabetics are 60% more likely to develop cataracts than non-diabetics.

I tried the toppings only approach---he later remembers that I ate the pizza and does it again! If anyone has ever seen the movie "Mother" with Albert Brooks, he is very similar to the mom character in regards to food! I have been on Metformin for almost 3 weeks now and have noticed minor improvement in vision of the eye without the cataract. The cataract-affected eye has actually gotten worse. But, my daughter is in the medical field and has found me a really good eye doctor who will monitor it closely. And gotsomeold, thanks for the hugs. After dealing with ALL of my sister's doctors I sometimes want to scream! Each one is so focused on their own specialty that they fail to look at the whole person.

Roxanne, Thank you for your sharing. I have resisted going to the doctor to get the dreaded DX. but the fecal incontinence has already plagued me intermittently for a year or more.
Belinda/ Ronnies wife.
Regarding cateract surgery, Ronnie was already insulin dependent when he had the cateract surgery and for him it "was" a walk in the park. He had to have a little laser surgery last year to clear a little clouding of the implanted lenses and that brought his vision back to 20/30. We go again next week for our annual visit.
After my first cateract was removed I was on the beach two days later reading with my new good eye and having to keep my unrepaired eye closed because my vision it it was so poor. You'll be amazed at the beautiful colors you will notice after surgery. Don't fear it, just go to a competent eye surgeon. And get that BG managed the best you can get it.
