Do you still take Metaformin or simular? Fat has the ability to slow insulin activity and the job that you have is not that good either as I would look at ways to put in some walking as that will get the insulin to work, Wile you are doing your walking is to have with you fast acting carbs like lollies or jelly beans so that you don't go into a low.

Hi guys

Here's an update.
I think I found my ideal level for insulin which is around 42 units of Lantus at 10PM and 30-35 units of humalog at meals.

But there is a problem, I believe I am experiencing this issue known as the dawn phenomenon.

My lunchtime reading is usually around 5-6, supper is usually around the same (sometimes it goes up to 6.8, just below 7) and bedtime (midnight) is usually around 5.

Last night I was awake for quite some time, I had to go to the washroom around 2AM so I decided to check my blood sugar (because I was sweating slightly and suspected a hypo). It was around 4.8, so I had a piece of candy and went back to bed. I usually have this slight sweating at night and I suspect they are all mild hypos. however in the morning it shoots way up to around 9-10, and this morning it was 11.2.

From what I know the dawn phenomenon is where the kidney/liver (not sure which one) dumps glucose in the the bloodstream while you're sleeping.

Is there a way to deal with this problem?

Jsingh, you MUST exercise and limit your carb intake. You are way overweight and if you keep going you will develop heart disease amongst other things. Have lean protein and fill half your plate up with a lot of vegetables. Drink a lot of water. No soda or juice or sweetened vitamin waters. You will not only lower your BG, but you'll lose weight and feel much better. Have a quarter cup of brown rice once in a while. Stay away from white rice. Get yourself an exercise video and start moving. Or just put on the radio and dance to the music. Dance with your son...I'm sure he'd love it.

Yes exercise is the key ingredient to loose weight and you will feel great too. Rosebud, Is looking for quality carbohydrates and less fat will fuel you to have exercise more confidently?

Hi Peter! It is beginning to get warm here in New York. Is the weather there in Australia getting cooler now? Do you see any snow in your winters?

Not yet Richard plus we don't see snow here but if you go inland you may see some but you have to be well into winter to get snow here. I can still see some summer left,

hello i am type one and i am on humalog and lantus. i am 14 and are you on a ratio for your insulin? i take more than that and i have had diabetes for over a year and take 24 units of lantus at night. take to your doc. about your ratio. and if i read right it said you fasted and that is not good. it tells your liver ( i think it is the liver 90% sure it is)
to put out sugar to compensate. so i used to not eat like b-fast and that makes me go high.if you have eny more help or ?'s E-mail me .
