Default could these symptoms be diabetes related?

From snooping around online I'm under the impression that peripheral neuropathy mostly shows in feet and hands. For two months now, I've had tingling, itching and numbness in my left leg to the left and slightly above my knee in a patch that's about the size of the palm of my hand. It comes and goes, and does not always have all three symptoms appear at the same time. Obviously I'm going to ask my doctor whom I'll see soon, but for now: does anyone else have these symptoms in this spot? Of course, it could be something else entirely, but I'm just curious.

I have no experience with neuropathy, but the location seems odd to be diabetes related.

My husband has a similar numbness on his left thigh around where his trouser pockets fall. We finally determined the nerves were being affected by the keys and other metal objects he was carrying there.

I get something similar if I stand in one spot for too long, all I have to do is sit down or start walking and it goes away. I'm sure it's a pinched nerve and seems to not be as bad after a visit to the chiropractor but never completely goes away.

A long time ago I use to sit on a fairly fat wallet that started causing that muscle right above the right cheek to twitch, I stopped carrying my wallet in my back pocket and no more twitching.
