Default Let's talk about cabbage

I have never made a lot of cabbage and when I did make it, it was quite a while ago. All day today, I have been craving cabbage.

So, talk to me. I see it's rather low in carbs. Is it something that you still find you use moderation with, or have you found it really doesn't affect you? (Yes, I will definitely test when I eat it!) It's the strangest thing - I have been thinking about roasted cabbage drenched in butter all day, and that's not something I have ever craved before.

I did notice a few delicious looking cabbage recipes. Any cooking tips?

Just don't overcook it and turn it into mush!

Apart from sauerkraut , my worst habit is slicing a wedge or three off the head and eating it with only a dash of salt. We do enjoy cole slaw too though. I guess we eat it raw more often than cooked. Sometimes in stir frys and CB&C is about the only time I cook it.

Cooked ours in the crock-pot with corned beef. 8 hours for the beef; adding the cabbage for the last four hours. The cabbage turned out great, not mushy, and I'm with you Mary, I like mine drenched in butter. I've got to cook cabbage more often!

I make coleslaw frequently. I also slice it very thin and add to stir fry. Sometimes for a quick lunch, I'll slice it finely and brown slightly in butter then melt in a Laughing Cow wedge. I've never seen a blip in my bg from cabbage. And I absolutely love sauerkraut!!

don't forget the onion, paprika and vinegar.
I's probably some enzyme or something but the vinegar sweetens the cabbage
