Default Crystal light

Holy crap i just chugged a quart of Crystal Light Ice Tea and BG is skyrocketing, heart pounding, tinnitus is loud and I'm suddenly tired. Waiting for it to peak. At 135 and rising....stupid me.

Shoulda searched it first. corn solids , maltodextrin, aspartame....sleepyzzzzzzzzz.

Oh jd do be careful! The aspartame alone would do me in, gives me a horrendous migraine. Let us know how you are doing, please. I hope you feel better quickly.

All better now, thanks MaJoie. It peaked at 135. Went to the gym and did some cardio, got it back down to 91.

Man that was nasty. I also had a headache. It was like a hangover.

As a matter of fact,I wonder if high BG isnt a feature of hangovers.

I have only had three of those explosive and unexpected spikes. Each left me feeling ill all day....and did no favors for my FBG the next morning.

I am glad you are back to normal!

The only symptom of a spike I have is whatever I read on the blood glucose monitor. Even at 500 last Jan 2014, I felt the best I have ever felt in my life. Now that I've lowered that number, and worked on thyroid problems, I'm 60 lbs heavier and I feel horrible. I hate to be so negative, but I believe LCHF and that's what I'm following but I do have issues with the diet. No. 1 issue is I haven't had a bowel movement in a week, and this week I've taken steps to remedy that, and nothing works.

The only time I tried the Crystal Light single drink sticks, about an hour later I was RAVENOUSLY HUNGRY and eating junk from a vending machine. Barely able to think hungry.

My daughter was going to an overnight at a potential college, and my husband and I were with her. I have been doing so well on LCHF, (more consistently in the 100-110 mg/dl range (YAY!), so I guess I was overconfident?

We had an order at a fast food place, and I had a hamburger with pickles without the bun. No problem so far. But my husband had some french fries. One of them looked good, and of course a mere inch and a half of french fry couldn't hurt, could it?

My BG went up to 183 right away and didn't lower again for 4 hours.

Bad girl ------> Miilanna

The funniest part of this is the french fry was so small, I completely forgot I ate it. I spent the whole evening and the following day trying to figure out what caused the spike, even checking online to see if there was added carbs in the burgers. Then my daughter said, Mommy, it was the french fry!

I was actually relieved to figure it out

I have to be careful with Crystal Lite as well. Like you I drank the whole quart in nothing flat one hot summer day, I was shaky, extremely tired, little nauseous, can't remember how high my BG went but I know not to do that again. I mainly use it to make ice cream so a little bit I do ok with.

I'm so glad you got over it pretty quickly. Like others here I feel the lows, but haven't yet become sensitive to highs. Anyway lesson learned as far as reading labels.
