Default flight meals

I have trip coming up. Long flight with meals included. I can pick out meals in advance, all include rice or potatoes of course. Other options include "diabetic" or "gluten free". Any advice from those who've been there? What's the best choice when trying to keep the carbs low? Thanks.

Gluten free is probably not going to have grains but might have sugar. Any chance of actual menus to look over?

JT Reagan has the right idea, From experience, I would stay away from the menu for diabetics. Those meals will be carb loaded. Granted, these were ten years ago. I always requested the regular meals and picked the low carb parts to eat.

I always had a briefcase for my diabetes supplies and carried low carb snacks to supplement meals if needed. Yes, I ate a few forks of the potatoes, but never the entire serving. The meats were generally covered with gravy, but I scraped away all that I could. I always asked for water and some ice.

Best of luck!!!

My last few flights I tried different options: diabetic, gluten-free, and one other specialized meal. I might as well have chosen potatoes and quinoa and dessert. I have not yet found an airline with an LC option.

Now I order the standard meal and pick at it. I carry cheese sticks and nuts with me as my true source of sustenance.

I would order the regular meal but take along low carb snacks. If there's a notes or special requests field, put in low carb and see what happens...

It seems to me that an LC meal would be less expensive to make than some of the choices. Meat with no sauce, veg with maybe a butter pat, salad, oil-n-vinegar dressing ... maybe a few cheese sticks for dessert. It seems so simple..........
