This is good news - as long as you heed what it tells you. Keep your food journal as instructed by the eat-to-your-meter technique, so you build your safe food list. Once you get that list built up, you'll be able to lighten up on testing just a bit. But I think you'll find that meter is your best friend forever - most of us have anyhow!

As long as you know the expiration date of the strips and they are unopened, there is nothing wrong/unsafe with buying strips from ebay. Check the seller's feedback for any possible problems

To add to grammaB's response, I had no problems buying off of eBay. I bought some that expired a lot later than some new ones from a Walmart. There is no guarantee that strips from a local pharmacy, at a lot higher price, didn't sit in a truck, train, or warehouse that was either freezing or blazing hot at some period of time.

I found one on Amazon and ordered GenStrip50. I sent mail to them later and got the response below. I asked them to cancel and I also successfully cancelled through Amazon, but GenStrip50 said the order had already shipped.

Anyway the following is what they said. I have One Touch Ultra2. Is what they say true?:

"GenStrip50 test strips work on onetouch ultra, ultra2 and ultramini meters and come in codes 4, 10, and 13. All these meters come with a the ability to set a new code, its easy! What kind of meter are you using? I would happy to help..."

--- Original message ---

I want to order the strip for daibetes testing for the One Touch. I have a question though. it is my belief that my meter will reject any strip that does not display a coded value of 25. Will your strips do this?
