Gabriel - what is your agenda here? Obviously you are trying to "educate" us on the typical advice given out by medical professional - which many have tried and found IT DOES NOT WORK!

A better approach in this forum is to share what YOU are doing, and what YOUR BG levels are when you eat a particular meal.

I went to Jimmy Johns and had a Beach Umwich. 8 grabs of carbs, 37 grams of fat and 0 sugar. It was a beach sandwich wrapped in lettuce. I'm trying to stay under 60 grams of carbs a day and I only had 6 for breakfast. I can eat a pizza for dinner...JUST KIDDING. No pizza for me. I get soo excited when I can find something I can eat in restaurants other than salads.

You can always have a steak, Dave - no carbs in a great big piece of beefsteak.

I had a Portabella Mushroom pizza. Sautéed the mushroom in beef fat then topped it with 1Tbsp Natures Hollow SF ketchup, pizza spices, fresh grated parmesan & Kerrygold reserve cheddar, 2 slices of uncured hard salami diced, 3 black olives and more of the grated cheeses. I broiled it to melt the cheeses and enjoyed!! Yum!

I am finding more low-carb options around my work. Arby's has a turkey bacon salad that is yummy with only 5 carbs. Sub-way has a double chicken chop salad that you can customized. Carl's JR. has a low-carb burger wrapped in lettuce with 7 carbs and 41 fat. A vietmanese restaurant that serves Pho and instead of noodles I have sprouts with beef. Lunch is my biggest challenge for finding anything with fat in it. Everything is low-fat, but I try and make it up at breakfast and dinner. I'm in love with heavy whipping cream!!!

I had a salad with mostly greens, topped with one hard boiled egg, 1/4 cup of cooked chicken and 2 1/2 tablespoons of LC Italian dressing.

I hope you'll start using your meter after you eat all these beans and bread. You need to understand that the glycemic index was not developed with diabetics in mind. Okay? It is useless for controlling high blood sugar.

A giant, dressing free salad with about 1c chopped chicken on it. Lettuce, cue, radish and a few grape tomatoes.

Brunch today was eggs benedict with thick slabs of sautéed eggplant as the base. It worked great!

I've been wanting to try this for weeks, but suddenly there was no eggplant to be found in any of our supermarkets. Week after week I've searched, and finally last night I found some at Walmart, of all places! I avoid shopping there as a rule, but I guess I've been wrong to rule them out altogether! Who knew?!
