There's a LOT of discussion over carb levels and what constitutes "low carb."

In truth, you ARE doing much lower than the normal SAD diet. The USDA recommends that between 45 and 65 percent of your total caloric intake should come from carbohydrates. Based on a 2,000-calorie diet, this would equate to between 225 and 325 grams of carbohydrates daily.

From what I've seen on the boards, I'd say anything under 150/day is at least "moderate carb." But most folks here are more likely to be aiming for 50 or lower (what I'd call "low carb"), or even 20 or lower (what I'd call "very low carb").

Definitely eat to your meter. But do keep a blood sugar limit firmly in mind. According to some studies, diabetes complications are more likely to occur when BG is above 140, so many folks use that as an upper limit. So if a food puts you above 140, that may be a food you want to avoid, or cut way back on.
