Default Nyquil carb content shock

I had a bad cough and cold and took some Nyquil. What a shock - 19g of carbs per dose. And they don't have to put it on the container. Couldn't figure out why my blood sugar was 201 soon afterward. I guess this proves I'm diabetic, and that Nyquil isn't a good answer for me. Most of my reading before have been in the 100-120 range.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday!

Sorry you're sick. I have somehow neglected to get my annual December cold this year, but there are still a few days left in the month.

I have a cough syrup that has no sugars in it - but it has to be a ordered as a prescription (I guess because it has codine in it) and the pharmacy doesn't stock it so it takes a day or two for them to get it in.

This might help:

Sugar-Free Cough + Chest Congestion DM

I can't find any listing for carb count, but maybe others here are better searchers than I!

thank you - I'm feeling better now. I can't believe that a medicine can have that much in carb content, and it not be listed on the package. I'll check out the links for future reference

There are two issues with infections of any sort. First the infection itself, besides its other symptoms, be they toothache, cough, headache..... pushes blood sugar up. Then the medication, such as this, may contain sweetening agents - even sugar itself, that are anything but diabetic friendly. No easy to cope with but a signal to always double check the contents - every blessed time.
