I have been in a rehab facility for nearly 3 months, trying to eat the way I do at home...and I lost 2 lbs totally easily! I tried to eat just the things I could safely eat off the plate I got and finally went to see the food head and tried to tell her but her minions some days ignored what she wrote on my card, so I finally ordered a meaty salad and ate the dessert if it didn't seem too carby at one meal a day and came home at the weight I entered. (I quit watching BS while there). First morning home fasting was 103 but today was 127 so I have to give it time of eating right and have faith it will go down again.

Maybe load your plate and only eat what you can have? just kidding...I lost 50 lbs in 8 months of following the LC/HF diet as I learned it.

Good luck,

Good luck,
Glad you are home now and get to have more control over your life and what you eat. Congrats on loosing the weight. In my opinion if I can get all areas of my life in control in some manner the rest fall into place also including my eating.

On my way to Costco today for groceries and wondering what good choices I can get for the next 10 days or so.

Not easy with all the other temptations that they sell there also. I am going for bacon, pre-cooked sausages, cheese, and some other LCHF items. I use the real heavy whip cream in my coffee and to cook with like in Frittata's. Love those with broccoli, bacon, and cheese. Mushrooms too. So, that said, off to run errands to beat the crowd for Easter weekend.

Good luck!

Hope you're doing well now, Pat. It's definitely a challenge eating institutionally, but sounds like you managed it excellently given the circumstances.

Welcome home!

Thanks to all who welcomed me! I realized after I posted my post that I had forgotten the small Boost I had last night...per orders of my surgeon to make sure I had enough protein. After eating with people about my age and more, I see just why he was concerned. Out of 10 of us, 5 were diabetics eating more or less the ADA diet and they opted to avoid our meat choices because of bad fitting teeth and personal choice. I was one of the few meat eaters...amazed me as I love meat! I had bacon and eggs every day I was there.

I must have done that well, as the surgeon after expressing serious concern that it would not heal and I'd have to have it amputated found my foot healed fast and well. It was quite an experience for me. I was the only diabetic on no meds and while I was there they did an A1C which turned out to be 5.0 (I wonder about the lab, but I was beside myself!). I'm sure the next won't be that good because I did eat a few bites of forbidden foods after that and to regain my weight.

Yes welcome back Pat.

You might look at amino acids supplements if you have trouble getting enough protein.
