Heh - I remember in the beginning saying that I was giving up a lot, but I was going to keep having one coffee the way I liked it (sugar and milk) even if it was 'just' every 3rd day - and I would do whatever I needed to do, but stopping fruit wasn't an option. Hey, if I did everything else, I was entitled to =that=, wasn't I?

Er - nope. Diabetes won. I do not have any sugar, not even a little bit, and I gave up fruit except for berries and now eat very few of those even.

Guess what? Life is fine. I survived

If your BS is over 200 when you exercise your liver may dump glucose for energy therefore sending your BS up. This doesnt happen to everyone but can happen.

My first goal when diagnosed T1 (originally T2) was to get my numbers down. Then work on the other things. When I tried to do it all at once I fell off the wagon on everything. Getting my numbers down using the LCHF way of eating helped me accomplish that. I didnt need to lose weight but it helped me stabilize my weight. I had gotten down to 105 last summer. Used to weigh 230. 105 was not healthy. It was because of the high BS. I am now stable at 120.

You can do this one step at a time. Get those numbers down!!

I'm allergic to whey, so I use egg white powder that I order from Netrition.com and it tastes just as good. I use only berries if I put fruit in it. I really like to put chocolate powder, a couple of drops of stevia, water and the egg white powder and it tastes like I think I remember a chocolate shake tasting and it's wonderful! A bit of ice will make it even fluffier if I want that. There are plenty of work arounds if you look a bit.

Take care, and good luck,

I am NOT saying ANYONE had it any easyier, I am only asking for HELP. I am eating low carb/ high fat // I see No one said ANYTHING about my meals , I guess they are ok . ? , And I have to work out , I NEED to loose weight . I will ck my sugar 15 mins in, and see what it says higher or lower .. I have glucose tablets, that I have Never had to use.. And I will stop if it does get that low, or if it shoots up high , I can call it a day and try again tomorrow. But sitting in the house, I am not getting the walking done, and I have too much urges to eat badly , I am doing ok for now. Just have to keep this pace, and NOT "cheat" eventhough its not cheating., its MY LIFE, and I dont want to die. Has anyone else had or have my symptoms ? side effects ?? thanxs for any and all help.

Star? I am one of those brutally honest people such as yourself, so I speak my mind and let the chips fall. I will, however, be happy to butt out since you feel my responses are not helping. Take care, start reading the labels, and read the Bernstein book.

Corn?? Make sure you are really low carb. Not only reading the label for the breakdown of nutrients, but also the ingredients. BBQ pork rinds and grated cheese showing 0 and <1 carbs on the label but the seasoning for the pork rinds and the potato starch powder to keep the cheese from sticking to itself listed in the ingredients - POW. this got me, thanks for those that posted the watch out fors.

Support includes motivation for no extra charge. That may include and require yelling and if necessary, being sent to you room (but not without a truly healthy supper). Sounds like you are motivated.

I think someone else has already talked about exercising and not go for too much too soon. That I would think applies for everybody, walkers, machine users, and weight lifters; more time, more miles, more hills, more weight, more reps as you go. Don't expect immediate results if they don't happen, and definitely don't be suprised if they do. Be persistant, because results will happen.

When I was diagnosed, I had a sedentary job with a sit-in-traffic commute and could barely move, let alone exercise.

After diagnosis and starting on low-carb/high fat, I slowly gained more energy and was able to move. I didn't lose much weight, but I did lose a bit, right there.

My favorite exercise is, and has always been, walking. It works mind and body, both. I've been known to drive to new places, just to walk around. You can control the pace and duration so you don't overdo.

You've received some great advice from everybody here. Diet-wise, you can keep the carbs low by reading labels, checking out specific foods on sites like CalorieKing.com, and paying a visit or several to our Recipes subforum.

A thread on diabetic-friendly fruit smoothies can be found here.

I can't get Fage either but the Oikos plain is 6gms. Dang girl 20u humalog with 0 carbs for breakfast would send me dropping like a rock. Even with that high of a BS and 0 carbs I only had to take 6u. That was using a formula my Dr gave me.

Be careful!!
