New low-carb chocolate find
I was at my local Trader Joe's this past weekend, and picked up a couple of bars of "Montezuma's Dark Chocolate Absolute Black," made from 100% cocoa solids with cocoa nibs. It comes in 100-gram bars (four 25-gram servings). It's vegan. Nutritional info (per serving):
Total Fat 14 g
Saturated 8 g
Polyunsaturated 0 g
Monounsaturated 0 g
Trans 0 g
Total Carbs 6 g
Dietary Fiber 4 g
Sugars 0 g
Protein 3 g

It is absolutely delicious--far better than even my usual Ghirardelli 100% cacao baking chocolate.
A couple days ago I had a small attack of sweet tooth, something that in general does not 'bother' me. Since I gave away my bag of refined sugar, have nothing made with grain or sugar in the house, I melted some coconut oil in a little glass custard cup, mixed in spoonfuls of cocoa powder and added one tsp of it it to a cup of coffee. It was just enough to be satisfying without any carbs. The nearest Trader Joe's is quite a hike but my (adult) son and I are planning an excursion to stock up on the 'right stuff.' Of course the local farmers' markets are in full swing now, so that's great for veges.
