Day 3 - another deviation. Was going to be occupied at an event from mid morning until noonish, so broke my fast a couple hours early with a fat bomb. Didn't have lunch until well after noon.

My strips arrived yesterday so I was able to check BG again. 2-hrs after getting up was 124 (probably some DP) and 1hr pp Fat Bomb was 125 (so, no change there). "Lunch" was 5 hrs later and pre-meal was 96, 1hr pp was 120 (not bad considering quite a bit of onions in that meal).

Now if I can just avoid trolling around the kitchen in search of something to nibble on!

Five months have gone by since I started this thread. It's been five months of ups and downs and generally a failure as far as getting back on the low carb "wagon."

I gave it another try this last week and managed to make it full LCHF with no cheats for about 6 days so far. I think I'm over the craving period. I noticed today that I didn't eat all I planned for lunch because I was full and didn't want to eat more. That a really good thing. Hope it continues.

BG has dropped into the 105-110 range fasting and pre-meal, and about 125 tops at 1hr. BG levels should steadily drop if I continue with clean eating. I'm still eating cheese - right now its more important to stay low carb than to eliminate dairy and if eating a slice of cheese keeps me from the chips, so be it. I'm having to put up with itchy skin, though.

I'd like to transition to the 16:8 IF three days a week, but for now getting my diet under control is more important. I expect I'll see some weight loss even so. (I have 10 lbs to lose - not a lot for some of you, I know, but I'm very uncomfortable with it (all my fat is around my middle) and all my clothes are tight.)

VeeJay, cheers for staying the course, both over the five months and particularly the last six days. It's kind of like getting a train entirely back on the track -- just when you think you're good on a couple of cars, another one has a wheel slip off. But I think you're moving in the right direction and wish you strength to get back into the groove.

I have managed another week without carbing it up. Has not been easy at times because I do still get the "munchies". BUT... now that I'm doing well with BG levels and mostly not having cravings, it seem it would be a pity to have to go through all this again for a handful (well, half a bag!) of chips.

Fasting has been consistently 105-109, meal pp under 120. So that's all good. I'm amazed at how quickly my BG can recover. I must still have a fairly good 2nd phase insulin response. I don't think it has deteriorated much at all over the years since diagnosis nine years ago.
