Default LCHF-Keto Fat help

So I finally after 3 years of convincing got my wife to do a diet that I can do with her, she relented when she found out that HFLC (what i wanted to try) is pretty much Keto.

So now that we are on it I am having some trouble with the fat side of it. We ate lots of Fat Bombs and stuff like that, but I do not like "Good" fatty foods like Avacado (absolutely hate it). I can do the nuts thing, but the cabs start to add up with nuts. I am struggling to not just eat whatever fat I can find (saturated fats). I am trying to keep the saturated fats down as much as possible but the go-to's seem to have a lot of it, pork rinds for example.

I am on 670G pump (with CGM) and saw a HUGE drop in insulin intake the 1st week, from 80-100 units a day down to 35-40 along with a week average of 120 and I list about 4 lbs. I have since kind of gotten stuck and even out on a pound or so back and I noticed I wasn't eating a lit of fat. Today for lunch as an example I have a large piece of chicken breast with green beans and 3 slices of bacon, but that is really lacking a lot of fat. I am not much of a fan of dark meat chicken/turkey so i always get the chicken breast. I supposed I can stop getting the boneless/skinless... I know I can eat the fat bombs but that isn't really GOOD fat is it?

I think my hardest part is eating healthy AND LFHC... I don't know why but this seems harder than I should be.My Cholesterol is relatively high (150-170 IIRC last time I went to the DR and I had a bad reaction to the Statin's.

Do you eat butter? You can put it on anything hot for more fat. Veggies, meat, etc. Same thing for olive oil (although it has more of a flavor some don't like).

Speaking of olive oil, it can be added to so many dishes, especially casseroles and spaghetti sauce.

I don't much like avocado by itself, but mashed up with mayo or maybe sour cream with an added flavoring (like lime or banana) with a bit of sweetener makes a good "pudding". You can also flavor with a sugar-free chololate syrup. Any strong flavor masks the avocado taste and the texture is pretty good.

From what I've read about how the body metabolizes fats on LCHF and keto - the "good" fats ARE saturated animal fats.

Thanks, I feel a bit better. it's funny because you hear most of your life, stay away from that especially saturated fat, and then boom, ok eat lots of fat. My house is so full of high protein lower fat foods lol. of course there is high fat like Ice Cream, but that's high carb also.

I can't wait until my pump evens back out. last week I was around 110-120 and this week was closer to 160-170. next week should be much better once it starts to see it's not giving me enough insulin lol. I think I need to tweak my Carb ratios a little since I've got less excess insulin floating around in my bloodstream now. Thankfully the hunger is fading now lol. It's amazing what a difference it makes taking almost 1/3 the insulin I was just 2 weeks ago.

moon and VeeJay like this.
