Many times the earlier you wake up and sooner you eat breakfast the lower your fasting number. Go to bloodsugar101.com and read about why fasting sugar is so high. Your liver dumps glucose in the very early morning hours to prepare the body to get up. It is the last reading you are usually able to control. I know it can be discouraging but once you learn about it you will feel a bit better.

Just read an article on the caffeine in the coffee affecting insulin resistance. My first cup is regular coffee and the rest of the day I have decaf. They also tested caffeine in some Starbucks and none of the batches had the same amount of caffeine. Some varied from 200 to 500 in caffeine. It is according to what day it is on how it affects me. It is so aggravating. It was like for no reason my bg was 160-198 fr 4 days.....was getting ready to call doc. Now for 3 days in a row they have been 90-114. Did not change diet or exercise.
I agree Carolina, if it's going to be high let me have cake.

MCS and Carolina like this.

First of Carolina, stop with the little RIP icon! Sometimes bg's just go wacky for NO reason at all. I have this happen all the time. I still beat my head against a rock or brick wall and no matter what sometimes my numbers are just high. I've been doing LC/HF for over 6 months now, and I'm still struggling to get numbers in a good range and steady. There are so many factors that can affect our bg's it's sometimes insanity. But I will not have any of this negativity from my friends! For the most part you have had wonderful bg's so a little bump in the road is just that...get back on that road and do your best always.

Do not give in to the "well my numbers are high anyway, I might as well eat carbs!" way of thinking. I've been there and done that too many times. It does not help and you feel like crap afterwards. Don't add insult to injury.

Always stay positive, no matter how difficult that can be sometimes. If I didn't stay positive, I'd be dead by now. So, I am still here and still thriving. You always must fight the good fight, and continue fighting even when you think you are defeated!

Hugs Carolina. It will get better.
