Gaba

This stuff helps me so much I thought I would start its own thread.

GABA is made internally by your body. When your body releases adrenalin hormones it also releases GABA. Adrenalin is the on switch, GABA is the off switch, it brings your body's metabolism back to normal. Most T1, T2, are defiecent in GABA. Diabetes in general has a way of putting a lot of stress on your body, so it stands to reason a person with D can be low in GABA.

GABA can be taken externally. I have taken it numerous times with great success. I just went thru a course of antibiotics, they screwed my body up, bg was 30pts higher than normal. One day in which I took 2 tabs, 3 times a day brought my FBG down 25pts. GABA also releases HGH, which will eventually raise BG levels so its a good indicator you have taken enough.

Never having heard of it until I saw various posts of yours, I had to Google it. :)

Is this what you're taking?

And I see that it's common in tomatoes. Do you know if we can utilise the GABA in the tomatoes we eat? I eat upwards of 60 grams of tomatoes a day, mostly raw, but some cooked.

Not sure about the tomatoes, yes, the above is what I am taking.

Trying something new, this week. Took 1 GABA (750 mg, already had it) plus Magnesium supplement (oxide, it's what my husband bought) at bedtime.

I slept like a ROCK! We will see how the rest of the week goes!

GABA may not only lower cortisol it may also work on the pancreas beta cell (in rats) and is been investigated to treat diabetes in human also.
