Good morning
A 6.9 for me today (124). I can understand how this can get discouraging. I guess my bedtime snack ( 2 cream cheese muffins ) was just too much last night. Today I am going out to the fall fair and lunch with friends. Should be fun.
Have a great day everyone.

The body has a wonderful mechanism to prevent us starving to death. Fast for too long - and that includes having a bit of a lie in - and your liver will deal with it for you with a large dump of glucose.

How long is too long? A very good question and if you discover an answer that applies to everyone, please tell the world.

Thanks,

My numbers have been high lately and I have been getting up and testing several hours after awaking. I'll start testing as soon as I awake and see if my numbers improve.

I have just started with this application and trying to learn how to navigate and post. Thanks!

Hello Poppy and to the club none of us wanted to join.
On the forum we've got a great friendly, knowledgeable bunch ranging from folk like me with a fairly recent, relatively mild version of Type 2, right through to some who have been managing their Type 1 condition for more than sixty years. So ask any questions that come to mind, almost certainly someone will have an answer for you.

There's no such thing as a stupid question - other than the one you didn't ask! So don't be shy.

On that point, we're a friendly bunch but we're also a bit nosey. Why not do a post on the introduction section of the forum Introduce Yourself - The Diabetes Forum - Building a New Community to Serve Diabetics Online telling us a bit more about yourself. Things like when you were diagnosed, what medication you're taking and how generally you are managing your condition. For instance, what type are you? and do you have any particular problems such as weight management or neuropathy?

Another place you might find useful is this site: Blood Sugar 101 The author, Jenny Ruhl is diabetic and she's built a site that tells us new guys a lot of things that we would struggle to find out for ourselves quickly. Anything on her site is backed up by links to the scientific research behind it, so it's not just gossip - it's useful information. Well worth an hour or two to explore.

In the meantime come back here often and as I said before ask away and welcome again.

John
