5.7 (102) at 6.30am. 5.3 (95) at 8am.

Now as I understand it, it was suppose to climb for the DP. Two days in a row and Im dropping. I dont test twice this often, but last time with the dr visit, I jumped from 4.6 to 6.4 in about 3 hrs, after 2 berries. I thought that explains the DP. How confusing can this D get.

I still need to acquire a taste for tea and since Shanny mentioned Rooibos tea the other day, I decided to have a red (rooibos) cappucinno this morning which is really nice.

Shanny likes this.

For most of us, the dawn phenomenon happens before we waken, and saddles us with high fasting numbers. There are exceptions - I think Marty (MCS) is one - but as I told another member yesterday, if you waken with a nice low fasting number, be quick to eat a bit of cheese or some nuts, anything low-carb. Just a few bites will signal your liver that you don't need more glucose oozing into your bloodstream, you don't get spiked before you even get your day started. Once that issue is settled, you can go on with your morning routine & eat a regular breakfast when you're ready. I used to keep slim jims on the nightstand & I'd test whenever I first wakened. If the DP hadn't already hit, I'd eat a slim jim, turn over & go back to sleep (benefits of retirement! ).

Shanny I will try to remember to eat something if Im low, which happens when I have an early dinner. I do seem to be switching from low to high and vice versa as indicated over the last two days. Just tested and Im up again on 100 (5.6) after the cappucinno. Still no food. Thanks for advice.

187 this morning. We lost electricity all day as a result of Sandy, so we got take-out fried chicken. Haven't had that in ages and it was good, but too many carbs and I didn't make the right insulin correction.

Waiting on the results of the four-day CGM test. I am still unclear as to whether or not to get the pump. I have had this odd feeling for a couple of days that I'll wake up with all of this just gone and everything back to normal. "Come wishes, be horses, this beggar would fly!" - W.H. Auden.

Shanny and Patdart like this.
