Big Brother Is Watching!

After visiting diabetes related e-forums when I used to check my emails at hotmail or gmail, or read online newspapers, or just browse the web, all I used to see were advertisements for diabetes supplies, diet, weight loss, miraculous diabetes cures, ...

Recently, I checked out outdoor sheds using Google search. Now whenever I check my emails, or visit DF, or visit other diabetes related e-forums, all I see are advertisements for garden sheds -- wood, vinyl, plastic, sizes 4'x4' ... 20'x20', ...

Sheds to the right, sheds to the left, sheds in front an rear, rides this Warrier alone!

Regards,
Rad

Google tracks your movement on the web and they target ads to you. Its just a sad fact.

If you can use chrome they have a icognito feature that will aid in stopping you from being tracked. Now mind you this is not a free pass to do ANYTHING, however for the Normal everyday user is will stop most of that...

But have you considered the benefits of owning a really good shed? :)

I read an article a few weeks ago about this very thing - how the results we get aren't really about what we search for, but about everything we've searched in the past too. Really irksome, I gotta tell ya!

I don't know what Chrome has that derails the tracking, but I can tell you Chrome runs a lot more ads than any browser I've used. Even when I come to this forum using Chrome, there are ads all over the place - even in the posts - and that's REALLY irksome!

Ditto here. Every time I do a search for this or that, it mysteriously shows up in countless adds. I really enjoy viewing a tool site like sears with D related adverts.

Look in the upper right hand corner after the address slot you will see three straight line click on that and select "new incognito window".. for your previous things to be erased you will need to clean out temp files as well as cookies...then use this incognito feature

Chrome is a internet browser just like internet explorer or firefox or safari and several others

There are lots of ways people can be tracked..you will want to search machine for malware which is specifically built to gather and send info to the source of malware

Spooky

It really IS unnerving, isn't it??? The first time I noticed it, I felt as if I was in the Twilight Zone with Rod Serling!!:eek::eek: Now, I have come to know it will happen.

I know from browsers, and I'll just stick with Firefox, which blocks ads for me. I will absolutely never use IE, which is a target for every malicious attack that comes down the pike. I should try Opera again, but just haven't had the time to install it & become familiar with it again.

Just know that you are tracked form temp files malware and cookies.
The best practice is to set browsers to dump these files upon closing. It can be a pain as your sites will not be saved and you will have to type them each time you visit...However it is a best practice..Just sayin!

BTW it was Google I believe that got busted for using information improperly. so maybe you will want to use a different search engine. I believe they are still in legal trouble over this fact..again...Just sayin!

have a good day family!:p
