Default Magnesium for leg cramps in the night ...

The last couple summers I have developed Charley Horses, so had decided to try Mg. My Endo also recommended stretching (which I already did regularly). Anyhow, I quit taking magnesium ... ran out a couple months ago, was eating a lot of almonds, anyhow so my intake ought to be adequate. NO leg cramps. I attribute them to using a fan in the bedroom, and to hydration state. Between hot flashes and a VERY hot summer, I never could catch up on fluids, even when forcing fluids to the point of bloating, I guess ... gotta work this out for next summer!!!

Oh, and my husband, on the other hand, who has ALWAYS had leg cramps, since childhood? When we ran out, he had recurrence of his sciatic pain (unjustified by his physical activities). So he bought the CHEAPEST possible Mg supplement, and viola, the pain went away.

Thanks Linda. My doc prescribed MG earlier this week. I did not know it helped with leg cramps, but I do get cramps occasionally. Thanks for the info!
