she is so concerned with my cholestrol & wants me on Lipator yet she is not concerned about by ## .
I am LCHF too. Plus my weight is UP>

Did you get tested for antibodies when diagnosed? If not, could be you're T1.5 and not T2.

Carolina that is what the Joslin textbook recommends, that is why.

Basal-only absolutely SUCKED for me! They "think" basal-only is safer ... but I cannot comprehend WHY, because nypos are MORE dangerous, not less.

I was ah, rather emphatic about needing rapid for meals, and got it. Stupidest protocol EVER, for starting insulin.

And I would also avoid lipitor ... UGH! Might consider switching, and, yes, getting tested for GAD-65 autoantibodies!

I know she has had me take every test there is so when she says type 2 I believed her.

Last year she tried to get me on Victoza & I said no thanks & that was that.

I asked her when she did that about Byetta & she said oh that is bad lol
Docs ghezz.

I hate these high # when I eat low carb..

sound like your not taking enough Lantus. that dinner had no carbs (to speak of) that would requite fast insulin.

An all too familiar story! Are you GAD 65 positive? My understanding is that's the antibody marker for T1 or T1.5. Personally, I don't like long acting insulin - Lantus, etc. Too hard to control and makes bolus calculations tricky if you add Novolog or Humalog at meals. All are likely to cause weight gain if that's a problem.

If you're T1 or T1.5 you'll know for sure sooner or later - so will your doc. Raging thirst, polyuria, fatigue, nausea, increasingly high glucose, etc. good idea to get some ketone test strips if you have these symptoms and glucose starts staying above 250-300.

Have you tried split dosing your Lantus. Peanuts would do this to me. They aren't actually nuts
