My sister just got back into town from being away for a month and a half. I finally got to tell her about my new Dx. Of course she was not happy and a bit concerned. We have a family history of D. Fortunately, I had a lot of info and some (what I think is) good news to share with her also. I told her what my first BG meter reading was (after lunch) 269 and what my latest reading was (after supper) 105 she was impressed.

I asked her if she ever had her A1c checked and she said no. I told her I thought she should.

I told her about my new WOE and she was mostly on board with the idea. She and her DH gave up bread (mostly) a year ago. She did not like the idea of me eating high fat or full fat foods though.

My positive feelings did not last long though. She is kind of a know it all if that's what you would call it. Right after I shared my lowering numbers and the fact that I have a follow up appointment scheduled she asked if I am tested for different types of cancer because it is also in our family history. That brought me right down. During the end of my dads battle with leukemia my white cells went way of tract. I had to get a few different tests done and finally after a few months my white cell count came back. I got her off that topic by asking if I could take her BG. She let me

We made plans to go out for breakfast tomorrow. I told her I was going to have a huge plate of bacon and eggs. She said she was craving French toast. Ugh. This is where the "mostly" part comes in...

Shanny and Mary, like this.
