Thumbs up Doctors Appointment & Quitting Smoking

Well I have a doctors appointment coming up on thursday.

There will be a insulin increase as my doctors wants my FBSL down to 6, which will be good.

I will be talking to my doctor about another addiction, smoking (tobacco) it's been an addiction that has been with me for 9 years.

So wish me luck

Good luck, Bear! Even though I'm not a smoker I know how hard it is to quit--hang in there!

Try electronic cigarettes. No smoke nor carcinogens and you can vary the nicotine levels.

They have helped many to quit cigarettes; but you do need to have the mindset to quit.

Good luck.

Thanx for the well wishes.

I have looked into the e-cigarettes, but there is a medication available in australia called champix and I am hoping I can get a prescription of the doctor on Thursday for them.

Hmmmm, looks like champix may effect BSL's so I may have to talk to my doctor about it.

Either I am quitting, as I have had enough if smokes.

Congratulations to you! My mother quit after 20+ years of smoking, while my father was still smoking in the same house. My father died at age 68 of lung cancer, and she's still alive at age 77 (although suffering from COPD due to second hand smoke). Your lungs can recover and you'll be so much happier!

Well I am feeling something working because smokes are starting to taste weird.

I am on a medication called Zyban, it takes at least a week to get properly into your system.

Theoretically I have anywhere up to 7 days before the fun begins, but if the weird taste keeps happening it may be sooner.

I don't recommend Chantix at all. It has been known to cause long-lasting if not permanent changes to mood and behavior and not for the good.

Suicidal depression, anger and increased alcohol consumption are sufficiently linked to it to have caused the manufacturer to settle a great many law suits.

Look at the consumer side effect warnings and take them very, very seriously. I mean it.
