4.8 this morning. The snow has melted and tomorrow Nobel ceremony up in Stockholm. A solemn prize ceremony and dinner, but the prime minister and crown princess Victoria will be in Johannesburg honoring Nelson Mandela.

114 this morning.

CD, that's so lousy about your phone. I hope you're able to recover it quickly.

Tish, an opera singer beggar? I know its hard to get work, but heavens! It would be terribly arduous to do that for any length of time, especially outdoors.

So, the weather report here is a winter advisory. It is, however, supposed to get up to 45 degrees Fahrenheit, so I can't see it amounting to much.

Judy, "lurgies" is a new word for me, though I get the drift - is it short for allergies or something else?

I'm calling it a 104 (5.8) this morning after a short and restless night. Initially a 117, but after a rewash, the 104.

Tamagno, and what a talent too. No support of a microphone or speakers. Such a powerful voice he had. I suppose you know we have the Cape Carnival at new year with lots of talent, but unfortunately it goes unnoticed in these troups or could be there's not enough scope for them.

Our opera singer had quite an audience and people even clapped until the restaurant security made his presence felt. Such a pity.

A 5.3 for me this morning so it looks like my numbers have settled down into what has always been their sweet spot between 5.0 and 5.6.

@everyone, Thanks. I really didn't want to get a new iphone and lock myself into a new two-year contract but such is life. The insurance company (Folksam) has been, as always, fantastic and I'll have 2100kr ($322 US) in my account by the Wednesday.

The beggars here in Stockholm are almost 100% members of a team or league of scammers. It's very sad to see their latest attempt to evoke sympathy from people which is to use disabled and displaced people to beg on the subway lines and on the streets. They will either walk or limp around with very visible and real disabilities or be forced to sit on the ground all day (even in the cold of winter); all for a few coins.

The scam pulled yesterday on my phone hits home even more since I had just read about that exact same method last month with a warning to be more alert (which I was doing for the first few weeks). Durr!!

75 (4.2) this morning.

It took almost a week, after Thanksgiving break of going slightly over carbs (and over calorie) and eating at all times of the day and night, to go back to the 70s. But with the greater calorie and carb control comes the weakness. *groan

Snowing here in the Virginia mountains. Beautiful! Have a wonderful day, everyone.

I'm calling it a 109 this morning. Like mbuster I did a rewash (after a 125) and I'll take the lower number. I am chalking it up to that allowed meter error, because I didn't have any fun foods.

I was hoping to stay home today due to the ice storm, but I'll go in just a bit late instead.

CD glad you things worked out with the insurance. Well there are beggers down here in Skåne too. Quite shocking to see them. I haven' t seen that kind of begging in Sweden in my whole life. A bit difficult to mention it here on the forum but the group are in all EU countries begging. They are very discriminated in their home country. I think there must be united efforts to deal with it. From their home country but also from the EU in order to integrate them.
