I have to start going to the butcher for bacon. Our local store several different brands and now they're all - lean, less calories, lower in fat- or marked with some other similar cr*p on every package.

And the ones I shop for always say a serving is one slice! One puny slice! They're as bad as the sauerkraut ones who observe that a serving is two tablespoons!

106 this morning. 146 before dinner.

Been battling a migraine type headache for 2 days. Not sure if it's the Byrudeon or related to my monthly visitor (sorry TMI lol) but I'm miserable! Today is my husbands birthday and I slept all afternoon because of my head. I feel like a bad wife for missing his birthday :-(

I feel the same about sauerkraut. I slow cooked a corned beef brisket one day last week and passed on the kraut because there is no freaking way I could ever limit myself to two tablespoons. I would totally have taken a nice size helping and would have blown my carb count. - And I hate that bacon doesn't include the trace carbs. It totally irritates me, since that's a food I love to eat a lot of. It would make life so much easier if it did!

@ Billi - celebrate it when you're feeling better! I get headaches when the weather shifts rapidly. I hope it goes away soon. They're awful.

Really late to post! 71 (3.1) this cool clear morning, 92 (5.09) at bedtime. Don't know where that came from!!

Shanny, I do the same thing with the bacon!! I get some pretty weird looks sometimes as I empty the shelf! And yes to the sauerkraut, who only eats 2TB??? Though the label on the Del Monte brand says a serving (2TB) has less than 1g of carb and less than 1 g of fiber, so I call it a wash since I do net carb. I buy the small cans and eat the whole can as a serving and have never had any problem with a spike or getting kicked out of ketosis. Now if I ever found a spaetzle recipe that tasted good, I'd be in big trouble!!

5.3

My numbers are coming down so fast since that boil/infection healed!

I'd be jumping for joy but for an autoimmune condition that was in remission reared its ugly head this morning. I've had Chronic Urticaria and Angioedema (hives and deep tissue swelling) for 5 years. It's gone into remission twice. Woke up to a swollen fat lip this morning. This is how it always starts. I have my Epipen, anti-histamines, emergency cortisone and Zantac (also can be used as an anti-histamine) and it's back to a low-histamine diet. No fish, cheese, wine, tomatoes, berries, nuts ....

There may be the usual early hours of the morning visits to A&E. I've been admitted numerous times for throat and tongue swelling. Luckily I have an A&E only 8 mins drive away.

Stay warm those in winter and for those in summer stay cool.

I have been going to Fat Secret to get nutrition data anytime the serving size is so small they can fudge the numbers. Sometimes those " less than" or "0" for their serving hide a lot. According to FS a cup of Cooked Sauerkraut has 6g carbs and 3.6g fiber, so it makes it a little easier to judge. I can eat a cup easily and have not seen a problem. Bacon they show that 3 slices cooked have 0.45 carbs. I would never give up bacon. I have also been buying bacon and ground sausage from the butcher. I don't know how much better it is but I like it.
