5.6 this morning. Higher than I want it to be, but was up eating jam I found in my fridge in the middle of the night, walking around with restless legs. All the sweet jam in the trash bag this morning. Raining and +5 C and the second warmest February ever in Sweden since the statistics started. Only 1990 warmer.

112 this morning.

It can never possibly be a good day when you wake up and know three people in the obituaries. My friend from school that passed away, my great aunt on my mom's side and our great aunt on my husband's mother's side all have obituaries in today's local paper.

Anyway, I am feeling okay except for hot flashes that have reappeared and feeling a bit 'off.' I just changed my diet yesterday, so it's got my stomach in a bit of a knot. I am highly susceptible to carb creep so I decided to go back under about 15 grams per day (I had 7 total carbs yesterday). I also have a really big problem with portion control and starting yesterday morning, tried to lighten the portions. Hopefully the stomach adjustment is quick and painless from here on out. Anyway, sorry for the TMI. Feeling really awake this early morning.

Happy Friday! We're in for a massive snowstorm from Sunday to Monday. The local news stations are already warning us about how terrible it's going to be. That can't be a good sign.

CD, congratulations: Swedish citizen. There are just a few obligations required for your citizenship. It is not just the traditional crab party in August that counts. You also have to feel an intense craving for surströmming (fernented herring) the same month and just be exhilarated by the smell when the first can is opened. Then you can start waving the yellow and blue flag.

For those who are not familiar with this tradition, the link once more:

102. Chest pain was bad last night so had to call the doctor. Back on Nexium. There is more to it, I'm too stressed. I also don't feel well after eating red meat and pork, so I need to adjust.

Feel better, Mary. I am sorry about all of the obits and your loss.

Thanks, it's all okay. It's really just given me a new outlook the past few days. Take control now, I tell ya, Mollie. I wish I would have been here when I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. It's just not worth it, taking any chance at all on decreasing your life or the quality of life by eating what we know is bad for us. As I see more and more people lately that have died, I just can't help but notice that none eat low carb. Could be coincidence, I know. Just can't get it out of my head!

End rant.

95 (5.3) on a frigid Friday morning. Hoping for a relaxing weekend, followed by a better week for all of us.

James, I am truly sorry. It is almost impossible to believe someone who wants to test and truly take control of their BG has to run into brick wall after brick wall.

I am lucky. I have access to reasonably priced testing strips and can afford to pay for them myself. I keep wondering if, someday, a prescription will suddenly be required.
