Too hilarious! Now that I finally have a day off from my hectic pace lately, my fasting number jumps up from the mid 5 range to 6.4 today.

162 this morning.

Hans, I just turned 64 and can't say I'm exactly enjoying it! Nevertheless, I admire your equanimity and am glad your eye problem is under control. Looks like our birthdays are quite near one another.

Kathryn, I think it's so terrific that you manage so well and maintain so much athleticism!

Here, it's 21 degrees Fahrenheit this morning with precipitation likely. We should go to church this morning as well as having a dinner engagement later.

I'm exhausted from my week at work which results in a constellation of trouble including unsteadiness, muscle cramps all over, etc. No one where we're going would mind, but I hate being seen in public looking so infirm and crazy old! Maybe morning meds will kick in and help.

Barbara, I should probably adopt some of your feistiness and iron will...

130 (7.2) this morning. Took a nice drive in the sun yesterday to a hobby shop near Syracuse I had never been to, haven't done anything like that in quite a long time. With two teenagers I'm finding I've got slightly more time on my hands than in recent years . . . honestly the best day of my life was when my oldest got her driver's license.

98 (5.4) this morning.
@ CD, sometimes there is no explanation for what the liver is going to do. If nothing else, makes life interesting and sometimes frustrating.

@ Tamagno, I think you show a great deal of persistence dealing with the problems you have but feistiness and iron will never hurts.

BS 57 this AM, two hours after breakfast down to 45. Brisk foggy bike ride (so beautiful) BS 67. Now we're off to walk for the dog. Happy Sunday to you!

Increased the dose of Lantus with 1 unit last night, woke up with a hypo 3 hours later (2,6), ate a little before I went to sleep again and woke up this morning with a 5,6.

106, happy for this at this point in time. I hope to be able to look at the same number as a high in the near future.

Mark, thinking more about what you said makes sense. 2 birthdays, 2 holidays in the last couple of months did result in some minor cheating (sorry John). I may not have noticed short term sharp increases in BG, but small daily increases consistently in Nov and Dec. My FBG averages really shot up in these months, the small and few cheats are the only thing I could relate to this.

Thanks also to John. I agree the word "cheat" seems wrong, but it is accepted and used in the US by virtually all the forums and sites referring to eating outside the parameters set forth in ones WOE or diet. Web MD even uses the term in that context. I first saw the word cheat used here when sneaking a few treats or food too high in carbs.

Tamagno, sorry to hear of your condition. The first thing that comes to mind is exercise. I know it can be difficult for a number of reasons but it can do a body a world of good. It helps me immensely and I have to push my parents a bit to continue it.

Tamagno, yes years are passing by. My brother who also just turned 64 just said that I was quite close to 70. Just some teasing, but from now he will be partly retired and work 70%.

As for my eye problem. No need to go around worrying and feeling bad, although some unease now and then, but I just try to keep a positive attitude - some stoicism. I also find that you really have the right attitude when it comes to your health problems.

No fasting number this morning, but had a 6.0 1.5 hour after having a sandwich and even a small cake at the library cafe today.
