62 (3.43) this bright sunny morning, 75 (4.15) at bedtime.

55°F and blue skies. It is supposed to be like this for a couple of days.

Boo even better today. Nice normal "deposit" in his box and appetite seems pretty much normal.

@Tamagno, nice to hear you had a lovely day yesterday.

@gotsomeold, that is beautiful country. Lots of great places to hike and camp. Just maybe your bff will pick up a few tips from you. Have a great time!

@Henrie, please do read the link Shanny posted for you. By avoiding such carb heavy meals, you can lower your bg numbers and lessen you insulin needs.

@ Henrie - Wow, that's a lot of carbs, even for a T1 covering with insulin! You may find that lowering your carbs helps you with better dosing, since you mentioned that your carb counting needs work (less carbs to count!).

@ Pat - doesn't it always happen that way? My thermostat is fine all year, until the first hot day.

We are off on a the road trip. So far eating has been easy - albeit easy because I am used to light or skipped meals. At the subway sandwich place, the lady felt so bad about my lettuce-meat-cheese-no-dressing sandwich that she gave me extra meat and cheese. (I carry my own salad dressing. With all these allergies, I don't trust anything pre-made, no ingredients published).

150 this morning.

Henrie, 95 carbs in a single meal is something I personally wouldn't eat because I'd have to take such a large bolus and then run the risk of a hypo in a couple of hours.

I find it much easier to deal with much lower carbs and smaller boluses as my glucose is volatile and difficult to control. At least that McDonalds meal was pretty high fat and would slow glucose absorption somewhat.

I never eat more than 50 carbs a day and most often less than 15.

The target range you note is actually better than the usual "standard of care." The endos I've encountered are using a top number of 170 for type 1s.

I'm curious to know if you've complications after all those years.

90 (5.0) after another not so great night's sleep.

Great weather today for napping and baking.

My yard is a riot of color: red and yellow tulips, yellow and cream daffodils, purple violas and vinca, white stock, pink bleeding hearts, and much more about to bloom. Ah, spring!!

For those of us who are struggling to reduce carbs: every single day I'm haunted by yearning for bread, chips, crackers, pizza, and much more. As the weather warms, and I see all the fruit ripening, especially watermelon, I mourn its absence in my diet. But at the same time, I am a grownup. I am in charge of my life, my health, my body. I've eaten plenty of those things in the past, and I'll eat lots of delicious food in the future. I haven't needed medications to control my diabetes yet, and I don't plan to any time soon. I don't want the neuropathy associated with this disease. So I'll act like a grownup and eat sensibly most of the time. If I can do it, so can you.

Henrie, listen to Tamagno, he knows what he's talking about.

80 this AM, I'll gladly take it after eating lots of carbs yesterday, maybe 100g +. I did spread the load over 7 hours of tough hiking so it's good to see it probably didn't hurt me.

86 this morning. Had a terrible asthma attack last night and will be going to the pulmologist tomorrow AM. My lungs are in constant pain- I know he is going to put me on Prednisone again. I personally think that the plurisy is back. Anyway, relief is what is needed. (I have been through every lung test possible- even a CT Scan, so a LOT has been ruled out).

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

73 (4.0) this sunny morning, 80 (4.4) at bedtime.

62°F right now (~4PM) wispy clouds in the sky. Went down below freezing last night and some of my newly sprouted Bleeding Hearts look a little droopy. I should have recovered them when I saw the prediction. No rain in the forecast until Saturday.

@Msfranxie, my yard is a riot of one color, yellow from dandelions everywhere!!

@Mollie, I am so sorry you are not feeling well. Sure hope the dr can help you tomorrow.
