Default I ate an apple - it was sooooo good!

Last night I was going to have just a half of a very small apple - but it just tasted so good I ate the whole thing!

1hr pp was 139 (this is way higher than I usually see, but not as high as I expected it to be - but no telling how high it actually got to)

2hr pp was 119 (BG was on the way down... good!)

Well, I managed to "bite the bullet" on this one. FBS was 109, so I'm back to near "normal".

Today is going to be a fat fast which should jolt me back to compliance - was planning to do this anyway to help stop the carb creep that seems to be going on with me lately - along with eating too many nuts and gaining weight.

So far, so good. Breakfast of avocado and macadamia nuts (which have few very carbs compared with almonds, etc.). Since I can't eat dairy and can't have cream cheese or cream, I'm relying on the above and coconut cream and coconut oil.

I envy your pancreatic function, if not your diet!!!

My kids are really getting into the apples from the grocery right now, though!

I had the best tasting apple six months ago. It was a huge golden yellow apple. Wonderful. *sigh... It's one of those things that LCHF doesn't completely reduce cravings for. I don't miss the breads or the potatoes, but apples... It would be difficult to just have a half.

I'm glad your BGs behaved. The price of an apple being a fat fast is a very telling consequence to me, however. It reminds me of how precarious this disease can be, but it also gives hope that there is something that can be done for such a minor deviance.

Bree - I agree. There's nothing quite like an apple. Usually I'm satisfied with a couple small slices off one. But not this time.

post lunch today... 81 yeah!

I start my day with an apple. I have a preference for the starking ones. I try to control it with a medium or small. I don't shoot up too high. (105-110) 5.8 - 6.1 approx. Its all I eat in the morning, often late morning. Perhaps my not too bad number has something to do with me not eating anything else.
No caffeine either, just water.

I am afraid to eat any fruit at all, before this D thing I lived on fruit, it spikes me too much. I don't think I could be satisfied with just a few bites, it would be like a drug- one bite and I would overdose.

While I was not a great one for just eating an apple plain - OWC was in charge of that - I had many apple salad recipes and LOVED them. Yes, apples are a big loss. So glad a few of you can tolerate small ones!

Fruit is something I too miss. I used to eat at least three pieces everyday, apple, banana, orange, mango etc. I can't eat them now the spikes are too high. I particularly miss bananas - used to have one every morning with a huge bowl of cereal!! I still buy bananas and apples for the puppies - they love their fruit.

You inspired me to try half an apple. My 1 hr pp was 176 and 2 hours was 140. I guess someone else will have to eat the other half.

Almost makes me want to try a small one. I can get by with about an ounce of raspberries or blueberries or black berries so I do get some fruit. I miss bananas! Before dx I used to have yogurt with 1/2 banana and some berries, mangos or other fruits almost every day for breakfast. Nowadays, yogurt it too high carb for breakfast.
