Once worked with a nasty albeit famous conductor who gave downbeats/entrances with one hand covering his eyes while loudly cursing.

All this time I thought it was me! I'd sue the guy for causing my diabetes if he were still alive...

Doesn't surprise me one bit. I've long thought that the vile, abusive, disgusting people I work for currently, and the near constant stress they induce, is partially to blame for my and other employee's health problems. They're a bunch of screaming lunatics, and like most business owners grew up in their own little world with little to no experience of working elsewhere, and so never were able to contrast their behavior with what's considered acceptable in the rest of the world.

They are truly degenerate people who seem to get off on bullying their workforce and deliberately humiliating people on a constant basis. I've been looking for another job for some time. Found a couple, but they would have required a 30-50% pay cut, which I just can't support right now. I'd love to see some more work done on this issue in particular, to the point where enough supporting evidence would be available to fuel lawsuits against such people.

Funny, my co-workers and I were discussing just yesterday how rare it is for a nice person to become a manager. I've had a nice boss or maybe two, but unfortunately the mean-spirited people often seem to rise to the top of the management food chain. I have a suspicion (from previous experience with them) that it is because they will do anything necessary to get to the top!

CDB, Australia has very stringent laws against Work Place Bullying. Your employers would be facing massive fines and be liable for huge compensation payouts to their employees. I hope you find another financially viable job soon.

Anybody who has a real azz hole for a boss is probably because that individual has absolutely no management skills... and totally depends on managing by being the bully...

Bugg :-) I really enjoyed the movie "9 to 5" ... Heh!

Same here. Employees are protected to the point where new business start-ups are almost a rarity these days.

I have always maintained, that if you treat people with dignity and respect, you get the best out of them. Why a lot of people here cannot believe I survived the building industry.
But now how would you in any case get your business to run, without those people. We need each other.

Horrible silly bosses.

With the new work force that is emerging, I think some of the old SOB bosses are needed to make some attitude adjustments. Not all the new workers have a 'don't care' attitude, but most are confused with the terms 'being employed' and 'working' and have no personal pride in anything they do.
