I miss Rice Krispie treats. And I miss marshmallows over the fire when I'm camping. Took me years of making Rice Krispie treats before I got the formula right (for me). A little less butter...a little more Rice Krispies and don't overheat the butter/marshmallows, heat it slow until it just barely melts then pour it all out on aluminum foil and let it cool without touching it. I used to pour it into a pan and pack it into a nice level layer for cutting into squares. When the squares eventually reached room temperature...they were hard as a brick from too much marshmallow in the formula.

I also tried this formula with Corn Pops. Warning: Corn Pops treats are HIGHLY addictive. I've got 1 year, 4 months, 13 days clean from Corn Pops treats. In fact, talking about Corn Pops treats has me in a cold sweat right now...I need to call my sponsor!

I did, but not while eating a slice. I used to take all the outside dry pieces of the bread and then break them into short one-inch pieces and stick them in my pocket...snack on them like hardtack while I was out amongst the herd in the mornings. Dogs loved 'em. I was single, I ate a lot of pizza back then. I mean...ya' come draggin' in at sunset the last thing you want to do is cook. There's always just enough energy leftover to dial the phone though. The leftovers go in your pocket and the box goes in the fireplace. How green is that, huh?!

I never left my pizza crusts either . . . too much of a bread lover! Sometimes I even started at the back of the wedge & ate the crust first . . .

I miss BAGELS ... but they must be the worst form of bread for diabetics! The worst!!!

Pizza is also one of my favorites ... I sometimes will have a "pizza omelet" or a "pizza burger" without any bun. Sure there are carbs in the tomato sauce, but use it sparingly, and load up on melted mozzarella cheese.

Cheese is a fine diabetes food - apart from cottage cheese which spikes many people. Otherwise, eat whatever cheese you like, any way you like.

This is a very old thread and I'm going to close it now.
