I agree. Its so much easier to skip both bread and bolus!

I don't like the feeling of too much insulin - always feels as though there's some internal battle going on between carbs and insulin.

Today (Thanksgiving) I already know I'll be pressured to have "just a sliver" of cheesecake - store bought - with its graham cracker crust and sugar. 38 carbs a slice according to the package. That's more carbs than I eat in a day.

If I eat it, it'll take an extra bolus over my self-imposed limit of 5 units. I Don't Want It!!!

That few minutes of gustatory pleasure hardly seems worth it.

No, I shall don my armor, carry my sword and fend off such attacks, bread, cheesecake, mashed potatoes, candied yams, cranberry sauce and all.

If I did eat it, I could count on a glucose bounce up into the 300 range before the insulin kicked in.

With a "normal" meal of around 12 carbs, I might see a jump of maybe 20 points until things settle back down. That's about all I can handle!
