Default Who Is On Your Medical Team?

Many of us see a number of doctors and other health care professionals to help with our day to day care of diabetes. Who is on your team?

Currently my team is:
  • endocrinologist
  • eye doctor
  • foot doctor
  • looking for a new GP
(I believe in another thread I mentioned some of the problems I had with past GP.
Currently waiting to become employed to find another GP. An Endo is more important right now.)
  • have given up on nutritionists
    • First nutritionist was more interested in what books I'm reading than treating me.
    • Second nutritionist had:
      • too much of an authority complex,
      • appeared to give more credit to drugs than diet and exercise,
      • and she nearly freaked out because I didn't treat a single meter reading of 69 as a hypo.
(For crying out loud ! Meters aren't that accurate !)
(Plus I KNOW when I am having a hypo. I encountered them when I was first DX'd and placed on glyburide.
And 69 (according to my meter) is nowhere's near hypo territory for me.
PLUS I've not had a hypo since being taken off glyburide over a year ago. )
  • dentist
  • diabetes support groups
(Their free; and you never know what good little tidbits you'll hear about.)

Default My Team

I have a GP, Endo, Ophthamologist, Neurologist, Cardiologist, Podiatrist, Dentist, Urologist and an ENT doctor. I don't have to see all of those doctors every year. I am in my 70's now and am seeing more doctors than ever before. Sometimes I think I need to add a Psychiatrist to my team.

I started the thread and forgot to add who is on my payroll. I have a primary care physician, psychiatrist, podiatrist, dermatologist, ophthalmologist, optometrist, sleep specialist and my pharmacist, 2 gastroenterologists, an ENT, gynecologist, dentist, orthopedic surgeon. I can't leave out the staff at Central Ohio Diabetes Association who helped me out tremendously when I was not employed and will help out anyway that they can. I may be adding a neurologist and cardiologist soon. I have to give all these people a big thank you for putting up with me! I ask alot of questions!

Ooops! Three . . . pharmacist too!

And each of these has other staff who are enormously helpful . . . don't have any horror stories to tell about my team, but I will say that it took a little shopping around to find the cream of the crop!
