Default Holy Smokes Batman

So I went to the dentist for a past due cleaning, and they always check BP before starting the process. My BP was about 115/72 which is great for me.. I decided to check it at home after leaving work and got 106/70 ...amazing...

I do take Lisinopril 10 mg daily and have started taking it after breakfast instead of after dinner. Looks like I might be able to get rid of one more med soon. I already told my primary doc and nephrologist that I will not take statins any longer. Might be able to lower that Lisinopril to 5 mg or just get rid of it too. I will consult with Neph doc before I totally quit that one.

It appears the LCHF is having lots of benefits here. I really want a lipid test to see where they are as well. Who knew stuffing myself with carbs, HFCS and all those other poisions were killing me??

I KNOW YOU KIND PEOPLE KNEW IT... Thanks for telling me

LCHF is the gift that keeps on giving!

Despite the drama (false hypo) at my dentist yesterday he mentioned my gums are looking much healthier. I'm sure that's a benefit of LCHF, less inflammation.

What is HFCS? Also did you take statins? How long? How many mg? I've been on 80mg for about 11 years and want to get off totally. They have not negatively affected me that I know of just want to manage my health without meds. I'm on carvedilol and lisinopril as well and would like to give them up if possible.

Has LCHF helped your cholesterol levels or LDL partical size? I know there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Some are saying Chol levels are not important now.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Docs are fixated on LDL, irrespective of particle size. My personal experience is that LCHF has raised my HDL and dramatically dropped my triglycerides, which are the two which matter most . . . my husband and I both have improved our lipids greatly since being on LCHF. I wouldn't go as far as to say lipids levels aren't important now - it's just which ones. And the docs place far too much importance on LDL, which is a calculated figure to begin with, and which importance relies solely on particle size.

I took a statin for a year, but stopped it cold turkey when I realized it was causing weakness and loss of strength in my arms & hands.

Also, for anyone that's interested ...

If you don't have a doctor appointment coming up soon and want a cholesterol check, most Walgreens pharmacies do them. I had my last one there. It's $30 (I think) and takes about ten minutes. They do a full cholesterol check. May be good for those without insurance also, to avoid having to pay high out of pocket expenses for a full doctor visit if you're only wanting the cholesterol check. You can get information off their website.

bignick I took statins for at least 10 years. I took Vytorin 10/10 for along time because it is suppose to raise HDL, it never raised mine at all (even when I was Powerlifting). Last few years I was on Simvastatin 50 mg then I read statins might contribute to insulin resistance and could contribute to diabetes. So I decided I did not want anymore of that "Told, did not ask doctors, those were done".

HFCS has been on my radar for awhile I really think it may be the largest problem in our general high carb diet in the USA. It is the major sweetner in nearly all fast foods produced here and it goes directly to the liver before hitting the blood stream and maybe stored as fat in the liver.. yeek

Did you ever have a cardiac event or were statins a precautionary measure? I had a bout with angina and a plugged artery opened with 2 stents. I still have one 95% blocked with colaterals that help.

Direct Labs (.com) has a special this month for $19 and a super deal, a cardio and lipid profile for $29. This is available in most states, pay online, have blood drawn at a local lab and results emailed to you within a day or two. You can pay now, take advantage of the sale prices and get tested months later. I've used them for years.

I never get tired of hearing from people who were skeptical about the diet but then found out the truth. Thank you for sharing!

Here once a month our District Public Health Dept. will do a cholesterol check for $25.
If we are needing our A1C then we need a prescription from our Dr.
